Abstract:
It is shown here that every odd integer N> exp(exp(9.715)) (~ 107194) can be written as the sum of three primes. This improves a result of the authors [Acta Math. Sinica 32 (1989), no. 5, 702--718; Zbl 695.10041] in which the constant is 1043001. The result is proved by the investigation of the zero-free region of the Dirichlet L-function and the mean-value estimate of the distribution of primes.
